The winter feels even longer than it is to fly anglers in the eastern part of Canada. Unlike some other parts if the country, the fishing season east of Ontario closes by October 31. That means those of us here have to wait through snow, rain, freezing rain, and even some days weather nice enough to fish in, before we get to wet a line. April however brings the promise of a new season. So the question for those who fly fish becomes, where and how do we get the fish. The opportunities are many. Sea trout returning to the salt water. Sea run Browns making their early season run. Kelt or "Black Salmon" in New Brunswick. For years my opening day was fishing small Muddlers through a beaver pond, slow retrieves got the attention of hungry trout. The fishing can vary. The truth is it is as much about getting on the water as it is getting fish. It feels good to cast again. Working the kinks out of rusty muscles and watching that line land on the water.
Through the various members of Vision Pro staff, dealers and anglers across Canada we will keep you informed of the season from as many points of view as possible. Even beyond our waters. Naoto and Yoshi Aoki are in Japan right now, pictures and video will follow of their angling exploits there. With Vision landing all across Canada we will have something from everywhere. All species, all tactics, all conditions. Anglers across Canada will challenge it all, and Vision will be there with them. We will bring you full coverage here on Team Vision's website.
So whether you have been swinging for Steelhead all winter, or waiting for ice out and season openers in the east, we look forward to seeing you on the water.
